We collect only the information necessary to provide our educational services:

• Essay Content: Student writing submissions

• Delete Student Account: Request account deletion with 7-day recovery period
• Delete Parent Account: Delete entire family account with all student data
• Data Retention: Deleted data is permanently removed after recovery period ends

How to Exercise Your Rights

To access, modify, export, or delete your child's data:

• Navigate to Student Settings for the specific student
• Use the data export or account deletion options

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain student data only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations.

Active Accounts

• Student data is retained while the account is active
• Parents can delete essays individually at any time
• Progress data is maintained to show improvement over time

Account Deletion

• Student Account Deletion: 7-day recovery period, then permanent deletion
• Parent Account Deletion: 30-day recovery period, then permanent deletion
• Inactive Accounts: Accounts inactive for 3+ years may be deleted after email notification

What Happens When Data Is Deleted

• All student essays and submissions are permanently removed
• Progress data and skill assessments are erased
• Personal information (name, email, grade) is deleted
• Backups are overwritten within 30 days
• Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained for analytics (no personally identifiable information)

All users have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and data
• Export your data in portable format
